  • The South Elkhorn Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky mothered the Central Baptist Church in July of 1945.  Bro. Lewis Arnold served as pastor of both the South Elkhorn Baptist Church and the Central Baptist Church until April 20, 1947.

  • Bro. Obie Denny, Assistant Pastor under Bro. Arnold, was called by the Central Baptist Church to be the lay Pastor.  On January 11, 1948, the Central Baptist Church purchased the property located at 1913 Queen City Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio under the leadership of Bro. Denny.

  • In January of 1950, Bro. Denny recommended that the church call a full time, ordained minister to pastor the church.  The church saw much growth under the leadership of Bro. Denny who remained a faithful member of the Central Baptist Church until he went home to be with the Lord in November of 1989.

  • Pastor Norman H. Wells was called to be the pastor of the Central Baptist Church a few months later on July 11, 1950.  The Lord continued to bless the church and in February of 1952 a new property was purchases at 2608 Kemper Lane in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • In September of 1956, the Central Baptist Church opened the Cincinnati Baptist Institute (later the Cincinnati Baptist College).  Through the ministry of the college, many men and women received a strong Biblical education and over 35 churches were started in the Cincinnati area alone.

  • After 11 years at the Kemper Lane location, it became evident that the building was not adequate to house the growth of the church.  After some planning and much prayer ground was broken on July 22, 1962.  The property where the Central Baptist Church now meets at 7645 Winton Rd., was dedicated the next year on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1963.

  • By faith, the Central Baptist Church began the Cincinnati Baptist Elementary School in the fall of 1968.  After a couple different name changes, the Central Baptist Academy is still providing high quality Christian education for many girls and boys.

  • Bro. Norman H. Wells was a beloved pastor by all who knew him, and his testimony for Christian service is still well known today.  He led the Central Baptist Church until he went home to be with the Lord in June of 1978.

  • Bro. Charles C. Hays was called by the Central Baptist Church as her 4th pastor in October of 1978.  Bro. Hays served for 13 years as pastor, until he was called to pastor in Texas in June of 1991.

  • Bro. James William Love was called to pastor the Central Baptist Church in September of 1991.  Bro. James Wm. Love retired from full time ministry at the Central Baptist Church in September of 2003.

  • Bro. Lonnie Qualls, who had been the Assistant Pastor for several months, was then called to take over as Pastor of the Central Baptist Church.  Bro. Qualls served as pastor for 9 years.

  • Bro. Lynn Gordon became the Interim pastor during a crucial time in the church after Bro. Qualls’ resignation.  Under his leadership, the church was able to remain faithful to the Lord and his calling until a full time pastor could be called.

  • The Lord answered much prayer in March of 2013 when Bro. Phil Keller was called to be the full time pastor of the Central Baptist Church.  Bro. Keller who attended the Central Baptist Academy, is married to Jamie Keller, and they have two children.  The Lord has continued to bless the Central Baptist Church, and we are all excited to see what the Lord will continue to do through His people.
